Background:
Water audits in the school will help assess the quantity of water utilized in the school. Small drips and leakages in schools are often ignored; and at times the users simply forget to close the tap properly after use. The audit will help in creating awareness and help draw up an action plan for conserving water. There is also a need to look at how the waste water from the school is being tackled and ways to reuse that water
Objectives:
- To understand how much water is consumed/ utilized in the school?
- To assess if there is any wastage of water and how it can be saved?
- To record the data of water consumption and use the same for comparison over a period of time.
- To encourage mindful use of water.
Procedure:
- Water survey could be undertaken to understand what students and teachers feel about the importance of water in a school set up.
- A detailed water survey at the school will help students understand the source, storage and usage of water on the school campus.
- The water audit could help students understand the efficient use of water and help curb wastage of water
- A small activity with students about wastage of water will help them understand the importance of water conservation
